Food For Thought
As Educators, we have a prescription for what our students need to know, how they should act, and the best ways to get things accomplished. Each month in Food For Thought, we will provide one or two conversation pieces about educational topics.
Why should you care?
What is next?
We don't have an answer for this question, but hope you will continue the conversations with each other. We hope that you will continue to fight through all the "fluff" and "latest trends" and really challenge each other to continue to grow.
Are we satisfied with where we are today?
Great things are happening every day in Sulphur Springs classrooms! We see it, the students see it, the community sees it. Teachers are rising to the challenge of analyzing data, collaborating in PLC's, engaging students, maintaining a rigorous curriculum, holding students accountable, teaching "soft skills" that will help students transition, and so much more. Can you possibly handle any more? Isn't your best enough?
Each of us has chosen to enter Education for different reasons. No one will ever question your love for students, or your desire to make a difference. Nobody will ever say you the effort is lacking.
Why should you care?
- If you expect your students to come into your classroom daily, eager to learn........... shouldn't you also be eager to learn?
- A video or an article won't change the world, but an educator like yourself can and WILL change a student's world!
- Students are DIFFERENT today. Is education evolving with them?
- Technology is picking up speed every day, are we keeping up? Take a look at this timeline for an example.
- What sort of impact are you making on the teachers around you, your encouragement is as important as your need for being encouraged?
- Are you comfortable doing what you do, if so is that a good thing for your students?
